About
Rachael Gay
Hi, I’m Rachael Gay, MSW, LICSW (MA), LCSW (CA) (she/her/hers). I believe the most important part of therapy is finding someone who is the right fit for you and you feel you can form a genuine, trusting relationship with. I have experienced first hand the challenge of finally seeing a therapist and finding that you and that therapist don't connect. I strive to make my therapy space a place where relationship is at the center and you feel you can show up as your authentic, genuine self, and I will do the same. I know that change is hard and seeking support is brave and vulnerable. The therapy process, when I found a provider I truly connected with, supported me in making sense of my lived experiences and identifying ways to cope with difficult emotions and experiences and I hope to support you in doing the same.
I have many years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, attachment, boundaries and interpersonal and family relationships. I aim to center social justice and a cultural humility lens in my approach. My therapeutic approach is informed by my years in community-based mental health.
For my own self-care, I love spending time with my family, going on walks / hikes with my dog (a Bernese Mountain Dog named Porter), spending time outdoors, reading, practicing yoga, taking care of all my plants (or trying to!), and finding the best food and restaurants.
